The World Camp Opening Ceremony and Christmas Cantata to be broadcasted on UBC

Sunday Morning, (31st of July), Pastor Ock Soo Park went to preach the gospel in front of over 7000 people at one of the biggest churches in Kampala, Miracle Center, of Pastor Robert Kayanja. This sermon was broadcasted on channel 44 on TV and therefore was delivered to people all around Uganda.
Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle Center is famous for holding a prayer meeting every evening for the past 9 months. While preparing for the World Camp, Pastor Kayanja had been introduced to the IYF and Pastor Ock Soo Park. The Pastor invited Pastor Ock Soo Park and the Gracias Choir to come to his church on Sunday to preach without hesitation and during the Sunday service, he also promoted the World Camp.

Pastor Ock Soo Park, who arrived at the Miracle Center with a police escort, received a standing ovation from all the congregation.

After a short introduction from Pastor Hun Mok Lee, the Gracias Choir took to the stage.

They sang local songs, <Tukutendereza Yesu>, <Yansumulula>, to which most people sang along, enjoying the performance if the Gracias Choir together.

After they received a standing ovation from the congregation, it was Pastor Ock Soo Park’s turn to stand on the pulpit. He was amazed that the place was called the Miracle Center and began his sermon by taking about the story of John Choi who had defeated the poison of the scorpion.
“John Choi had no choice but to die because of the poison from the scorpion. But through the power of the Word, he was able to defeat the power of the poison. In Romans 3:23-24, it says, ‘for all have sinned’. But in verse 24, there is something so amazing. I questioned my own eyes. In verse 23 it said that we were sinners but verse 24 begins with, ‘being justified’. Although we have sinned, it is still telling us that we are justified. I thought that I had to live a good life. There was one marathon runner from Korea named Bong Ju Lee who competed in the Olympics. When that runner won the gold medal we said that it was the same as his grandmother receiving a gold medal as well. Because God said that we are righteous, we are righteous.”

“In 1 Corinthians 6:10-11, it says that we are sinners. But in verse 11 is says, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified. I was also a person who suffered because of sin. However, God says that he no longer remembers our sins. From that day onwards, I could see how God was working with me.
For you, what is a miracle? Is Lazarus coming back to life a miracle? Or is John Choi coming back to life a miracle?

No. The true miracle of God is washing us, who are full of sin, to become as white as snow through the blood of Jesus Christ.
I hope that you can all believe clearly that the blood of Jesus is powerful and that this is what has saved us from our sins.
Live Broadcasting of Pastor Ock Soo Park and Gracias Choir by UBC

On the morning of the 30th, Pastor Ock Soo Park featured live on UBC, the country’s national broadcasting station. The relationship between the IYF and UBC was an active one so once they heard that here was going to be a World Camp, they invited Pastor Ock Soo Park and Gracias Choir for an interview.

The Gracias Choir performed live for 20 minutes. Like always, the songs of the Gracias Choir opened the hearts of the people working at the station and their faces were filled with smiles all the while they were listening to the Choir’s music.
Afterwards, there was an interview with Pastor Ock Soo Park. The MC led the interview with Pastor Ock Soo Park with a short introduction. The themes of this interview were regarding what we could learn from the World Camp as well as the purpose of the IYF.

Pastor Ock Soo Park began to precisely explain how the participating students are changing.
“Long time ago, I thought I had to do well. I had to wash my own sins and live a holy life by myself. The amazing thing is that in Romans 3:23-24, it says that I have sinned, yet the Bible still tells us that we have become justified through Jesus.
Isn’t it true that if the President of Uganda tell someone to be their Minister, they then become their Minister? The Bible tells us that we are justified. Although we have sinned, we have been washed through Jesus and have been made sanctified and holy. It is just believing in this word in the Bible.”
The MC was amazed and exclaimed, ‘Wow!’. In this manner, the MC was continually amazed throughout their one-hour interview.
Every hour, the UBC broadcasted the IYF promotional video as well as the World Camp introductory video for free.
Moreover, the Christmas Cantata performance was broadcast on live TV.

In this one day, during the interview with the UBC, through the Gracias Choir and Pastor Ock Soo Park, the gospel was spread throughout Uganda. Moreover, the Sunday sermon was delivered to not only the 7000 people at the Miracle Center but to all those who were on Channel 44. The seed of the Gospel has been spread to all over Uganda. We cannot help but be full of hope when we think about the amazing work that the word will do.
