In the conversation with the Samaritan woman, Jesus said, “Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him, shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” It seems that the words of Jesus are irrational. “How could one become never thirsty upon drinking water? How could it be a well springing up in him?” It is completely incomprehensible. A person who believes in himself would say, “How could living water spring up from within? That’s nonsense!” You, who are reading this now, may think, “Hey, how could there be such water?” if someone were to tell you the same thing. But the Samaritan woman said, “Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.” She was accepting the words of Jesus, which were incomprehensible, with all of her heart.
