The man with the infirmity for 38 years was lying there, and was unable to walk. What did he say to Jesus? “Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” It means that he cannot walk nor has someone to put him into the pool. Jesus told him, “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” The amazing thing is that when Jesus said so, this man with the infirmity for 38 years rose, took up his bed, and walked. He could only lie there. He was one who could not even go to the bathroom or walk on his own, but at the words of Jesus, he stood right up, took up his bed, and walked. Just before this, his legs were withered with no strength to stand, but strength had found his body and his legs. Where and how did this strength come from?
