Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life.” What does it mean to believe? What is faith that by believing one gains eternal life? People think that believing is zealously praying, keeping the law, obeying the Word, and doing good. They think that those who are good at this will gain eternal life. But that is not what the Bible says. It says, “He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation.”
